How to Get Secret Fish in Cage Fishing

Secret and Mythic fish are Cage Fishing’s prestige catches. Here is how the odds actually improve — and what wastes your time.

What Secret fish are

Secret is the top rarity band in Cage Fishing, above Mythic. Pearl Point markets them as the flex catch — “Flex MYTHIC and SECRET fish caught straight from the wild.” They come from the same cage loop as everything else: there is no separate rod, quest, or secret area required. Rarity odds are the whole game.

The only lever that matters: luck

You cannot aim a cage at a Secret fish. What you can do is stack every luck / catch-quality upgrade on your plot, because those upgrades shift the rarity table on every single catch — active or AFK. Funding luck upgrades early (see the money guide) is the real Secret fish strategy; everything else is waiting.

Volume beats wishing

Secrets are a numbers game, so maximize catches per day: keep every cage running, sink cages before each logout so offline hours keep rolling the dice, and use a free private server if lag is eating collects. A player with upgraded luck and 24/7 sunk cages will out-catch a lucky grinder every week.

Hunt after Sunday updates

New fish typically enter the pool with the weekly Sunday patch, which makes patch day the best time to push a Mythic / Secret hunt — fresh catches to flex and, occasionally, refreshed odds. Re-check the fish database on this wiki after each update.

What wastes your time

Chasing Secrets with zero upgrades. Idling with cages left floating. Trusting videos that promise a “Secret fish method” or codes that boost luck — Cage Fishing has no working codes as of August 2026, and no verified off-plot trick changes rarity odds. Luck upgrades, sunk cages, and patience are the entire recipe.
